Parents

What is the definition of a parent? I am sure Websters has a long wordy explanation of it. I am going to try to define mine.
I had a biological father who left me at the age of 6 weeks. I assume he never wanted me in the 1st place so I realized at a very young age that I did not need him either. I have a Mother who worked to support 5 kids on her own with some help from Grandparents and I don't remember a time she regretted any of it. She met my "Dad" when I was 10. I was so excited to finally have one like my friends. He loved my Mom till the day he died and accepted all my brothers and sisters like his own. I will always treasure my time with him in my family. He passed away after I married and had 2 kids of my own who called him Grandpa..

Which leads me to my OTHER parents who most people would call their in-laws. These two very special people have been a part of my life for the past 32 years and many more to come. They became my Mom and Dad the day I married thier son. They have taught me what love is all about. They have been my friends and confidants, they have laughed with me, cried with me and shared their wisdom. They  never gave advice unless I asked and they never interfered. I will always be so grateful for the examples of selfless acts and generosity to others before themselves.
I hope I can take pieces of each of these wonderful people in my life and be half the  parent  they are to me. I love you Mom  and Mom and Dad Hammond.

Go ahead, make me cry on my lunch hour, while sitting at my desk...

I know they love you as their daughter so the feelings are mutual.
Thank YOU for loving them!
